ChildAid Raises Record $1 Million

Singapore Press Holdings’ youth charity concert ChildAid has raised a record $1 million to help needy children. The money raised will support two charities – The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund and The Business Times Budding Artists Fund.

Strong corporate support and brisk ticket sales boosted this year’s tally to $1,015,000 – double last year’s fund-raising total of $506,000. The concert’s takings crossed the $1-million mark after Citibank and PriceWaterhouse Coopers pledged $100,000 and $30,000 respectively yesterday.

This year’s concert will be held at Resorts World Sentosa from Dec 19-21. It will be the first event to be held at the integrated resort, which is the venue and production partner for the concert.

Tickets for the concert sold out last week.

Children For Children at The Singapore Zoo

On 30 September, The Business Times, CHIJ (Kellock) and The Arts House came together, for the second year running to create a fun-filled community event called Children for Children, in aid of ChildAid, an annual fundraising concert where proceeds will go towards The Business Times Budding Artists Fund and The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund. The inaugural Children for Children event last year saw 1,000 children from lower income families take the exhilaraIng ride on the Singapore Flyer on Children’s Day. This year, it was held at the Singapore Zoo and
aSracted close to 1,000 children from lower income families.

Mr Colin Goh, General Manager of The Arts House, comments, “The arts have a certain social responsibility towards the community in which it is born and it is no different for an arts organisaIon and venue like The Arts House. We are honoured to be able to conInue playing a role in helping children who are economically distanced this year through our efforts in raising funds for ChildAid.”

ChildAid raises record amount for underprivileged children in Singapore. Both nights sold out.

ChildAid, the annual children´s charity concert organised by The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund and The Business Times Budding Artists Fund, has raised a record $506,000 for the two charities this year.

Thanks to strong corporate support and healthy public ticket sales, the collection for the two-night concert surpassed last year´s sum of $450,000 (The list of sponsors are listed below.). This brings the total amount raised since the inaugural concert in 2005 past the $1.5 million mark.

“This proves that despite the challenging economic climate, the Singapore public and corporate sector have big hearts. It signals to the needy children that our society cares for them,” said Mr Peter Khoo, ChildAid’s organising chairman. “We are truly grateful to everyone for their tremendous support.’’

Children For Children at Singapore Flyer

More than 100 children will come together to create a fun-filled Children’s Day for 1,000 children from low-income families at a fundraising-cum-community event called Children for Children @ Singapore Flyer today! The event will be graced by Dr Lee Boon Yang, Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts.

Organised in aid of ChildAid which supports two charities for needy children in Singapore, mainly the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund and The Business Times Budding Artists Fund, Children for Children has raised the targeted S$200,000 within just three weeks through donations from organisations such as Overseas Union Enterprise, CapitaLand Hope Foundation and United Overseas Bank, as well as individual company executives.

ChildAid, the annual children´s charity concert organised by The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund and The Business Times Budding Artists Fund, has raised a record $450,000 for the two charities, bringing the total amount raised since the inaugural concert in 2005 past the $1 million mark.

Thanks to strong corporate support and healthy public ticket sales, the collection for the two-night concert, has surpassed last year´s $390,000 (The list of sponsors are listed below.). The first ChildAid concert in 2005 raised $330,000.

ChildAid, the children’s charity concert organised by The Straits Times and The Business Times, has raised a record $390,000 for two beneficiaries, The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund (SPMF) and The Business Times Budding Artists Fund.

ChildAid raises $300,000 for underprivileged children and teens in Singapore

ChildAid, the charity concert organised by The Straits Times and The Business Times, has raised over $300,000 for the two charities, The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund and The Business Times Budding Artists Fund.

Thanks to strong corporate support and brisk public ticket sales, the two-night concert has exceeded the planned target of $300,000. (The full list of key sponsors can be found below.)
