Singapore, 19 November 2024 – The much-anticipated ChariTrees 2024 returned to Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade with its largest and most festive display to date, bringing a corridor of light, joy, and purpose to the heart of Singapore. This year, ChariTrees raised a donation record of $1,180,960, with proceeds directed toward supporting four meaningful causes: empowering underserved children and youths through the arts with BT BAF, uplifting people with disabilities with SPD, suicide prevention through Samaritans of Singapore (SOS), and providing essential support to end-stage kidney patients with the Kidney Dialysis Foundation (KDF), which joined as a new beneficiary for 2024.
Themed “Blossom of Hope”, ChariTrees transformed the waterfront promenade into a dazzling sight with its array of decorated trees. Alongside the beautifully lit trees, the new addition of miniature gardens – artfully arranged collections of Christmas trees in a garden setting – added to the vibrant festive landscape, reinforcing the theme of hope and renewal that ChariTrees seeks to inspire.
Mr Tan Puay Kern, Chairman of the ChariTrees 2024 Organising Committee, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all contributors and supporters: “We have adopted the theme ‘Blossom of Hope’ for ChariTrees 2024, a theme that beautifully captures the journey of showering care and giving hope to our beneficiaries. We want to build on the legacy of ChariTrees; to continue spreading the ‘Blossom of Hope,’ and to uphold our shared commitment to a resilient and compassionate society.”
The light up event featured music by the Singapore Police Force Quintet and performances by child beneficiaries of BT BAF, adding a festive background to the event’s celebrations. Mr Ong Ye Kung, Minister for Health, graced the occasion as Guest-of-Honour.
Donations for ChariTrees beneficiaries remain open to the public via Singapore’s national giving platform, Giving.sg, inviting everyone to make a positive impact this holiday season.
