The All-Stars Edition of annual charity concert ChildAid raised $2.327 million, a record sum since it first started in 2005. Proceeds from the concert, co-organised by The Straits Times and The Business Times, both of which are owned by Singapore Press Holdings (SPH), go towards The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund and The Business Times Budding Artists Fund. This year’s contribution brings the total sum raised for both funds to more than $10 million.

At the opening night of the concert held on Friday (Dec 5), SPH chairman Dr Lee Boon Yang and Editor-in-Chief of SPH’s English and Malay Newspapers Division Mr Patrick Daniel presented a cheque to two of the performers, 11-year-olds Muhamad Zhafir Salem and Dineaish Rajendran, also Budding Artists Fund beneficiaries, who received it on behalf of both funds’ beneficiaries.

InspirAction: Start, Show and Share Kindness Today, this year’s Children for Children theme encourages each child to be more proactive in being kind. More than 250 CHIJ (Kellock) pupils were involved in making Children’s Day celebration a memorable one for more than 1,000 of their less-privileged peers.

Minister for Manpower, Mr Tan Chuan-Jin, together with more than 1,000 primary school pupils who are under the Ministry of Education Financial Assistance Scheme, celebrated Children’s Day through a series of craft activities and theatre-dance performance staged by CHIJ (Kellock) pupils in the Pantages Hollywood Theatre inside Universal Studios Singapore®.

More than 160 young performers sang, danced and performed their hearts out to raise the largest amount ever in the ninth edition of the ChildAid concert at Sands Theatre, Marina Bay Sands tonight.

Organised by The Straits Times and The Business Times, the charity concert raised $2.035 million – a new record sum – for its two youth-related beneficiaries, The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund and The Business Times Budding Artists Fund. Last year, the concert raised $2.016 million.

Acting Minister for Culture, Community and Youth and Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Communications and Information, Mr Lawrence Wong, launched Singapore’s newest children adventure
book today at the annual Children Day’s celebration and fundraising event, Children For Children.

Amongst the first to receive the book were more than 1,200 pupils under the Ministry of Education’s Financial Assistance Scheme participating in this year’s edition of Children For Children.

Making A Difference, The Children For Children Story tells the tale of two children travelling through time to experience all five adventurous years of Children For Children, exploring themes such as marine and environmental conservation and raising funds to help other children.

Tickets for the year-end charity concert ChildAid open for booking on Monday (12 November).

The public can buy tickets priced at $18 or $38 ($19, $41 inclusive of booking fees) to the shows on December 7 and 8, Friday and Saturday, to be held at the Marina Bay Sands Grand Theater through the MBS ticketing website. Proceeds from the ticket sales will go to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund and The Business Times Budding Artists Fund.

Some 1,300 children from economically disadvantaged families will get to spend the eve of Children’s Day at Universal Studios Singapore® in Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), in this year’s presentation of Children for Children. The annual children’s charity event will also help to raise $300,000 for The Business Times Budding Artists Fund (BTBAF) and The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund (SPMF).

Children for Children is jointly organised by The Arts House (managed by The Old Parliament House Limited), The Business Times and CHIJ (Kellock). This year’s 1,300 participating children will come from over 70 primary schools.

The past four editions of Children for Children had seen more than 4,400 children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds visited some of Singapore’s iconic attractions such as the Singapore Flyer (2008), the Singapore Zoo (2009), Underwater World Singapore (2010) and RWS (2011). Following the success of last year’s Children for Children, RWS will continue to be this year’s venue partner.

This year’s ChildAid concert, co-organised by The Straits Times and The Business Times, has raised $1.88 million to help two charities. The amount tops last year’s record of $1.28 million.

After the finale of the Gala night show on Friday (Dec 9) – the second of the three-night concert – Singapore Press Holdings Chairman Dr Lee Boon Yang presented the mock cheque to two performers representing the concert’s beneficiaries.

The net proceeds of the annual children’s charity concert – the seventh since it started in 2005 – will go to The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund and The Business Times Budding Artists Fund.

Characters pop up from what appears to be an open book. They sing, they dance, they celebrate to the concert’s theme of “Friendship and Hope”. This is the ChildAid story for this year, the seventh concert organised by The Straits Times and The Business Times in aid of the two children’s charities – The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund (SPMF) and The Business Times Budding Artists Fund (BAF). SPMF provides financial assistance to needy school-going children and BAF helps needy children from poor homes pursue their artistic talents.

The showcase of excellence will feature some 130 budding musical talent who will perform at the University Cultural Centre (UCC) at the National University of Singapore from 8 to 10 December. Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong is the Guest of Honour on the Gala Night on 9 December.

Joining performers from Singapore on stage will be 13-year-old Asami Wada, a guest violinist from Japan, where the first overseas ChildAid concert was staged in January this year to help Japanese children. Some beneficiaries of the Budding Artists Fund will also be performing in this annual concert, now into its seventh year.

The fourth edition of Children for Children at Resorts World Sentosa promises to be bigger, better and more exci-ng for 1,400 children from low-income families who have accepted the invitation to participate in this annual community event on Children’s Day (7 October, 2011).

With an overwhelming response from 73 out of a total of 173 primary schools in Singapore participating in this year’s Children for Children, this is the largest ever gathering for the event since its inception in 2008.

This event, jointly organised by The Arts House, The Business Times and CHIJ (Kellock), is also a fundraiser for ChildAid, an annual children’s charity concert organised by Singapore Press Holdings. Proceeds from ChildAid will benefit The Business Times Budding Artists Fund (BT BAF) and The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund(STSPMF).

Singapore Press Holdings’ (SPH) annual children’s charity concert, ChildAid, which is organised in aid of The Straits Times Pocket Money Fund (SPMF) and The Business Times Budding Artists Fund (BTBAF), will be held at the Resorts World Sentosa on 17and 18 December 2010.

This is the sixth year that ChildAid is taking place, and the second year it is being held at Resorts World Sentosa.

Showcasing young musical talents from Singapore and around the region, ChildAid 2010 features 13 acts to be performed by 144 talents aged between seven and 19 years. The acts cover diverse music genres such as classical, pop-rock and hip-hop and feature songs, dances and instrumental performances on the flute, piano and drums. The artistic director for ChildAid 2010 is Cultural Medallion winner and well-known local composer/arranger Iskandar Ismail, who was also responsible for the past four ChildAid concerts.
