The Business Times and The Old Parliament House Limited (TOPH) share a common belief that every child in Singapore who is interested in the arts or artistically gifted should be given the opportunity to develop that talent.
The lack of money should not hinder interest and The Business Times Budding Artists Fund (BTBAF) was initiated in 2004 to level the playing field, because no child with strong interest and artistic potential should be deprived of the opportunity to develop his or her talents because of his or her family's financial background.
Beneficiaries of BTBAF are trained primarily at The Little Arts Academy (LAA), which was set up in November 2008, to provide equal opportunity for all of them to be fully engaged in the arts. They undergo a quality multidisciplinary curriculum that covers music, dance, theatre, visual arts, multimedia and culinary arts. A key feature of the programming is the opportunity for beneficiaries to stage public performances.
BTBAF is committed to nurture and develop the interest and talents of young people between the ages of five and 19 from less privileged backgrounds.
